Weekend Report - Our Top Estate Sale Picks, July 4th Edition

This Fourth of July weekend isn't just about fireworks and cookouts. It's shaping up to be one of the best weekends of the summer for estate sale enthusiasts, antique collectors, and treasure hunters across the country.

I'm searching hundreds of estate sale and auction listings from coast to coast to find the sales we'd actually get in the car for. We pull from national listing sites, regional companies, boutique estate sale firms, and online auction platforms — so you're not just seeing what's on one site. You're seeing the best of everything.

This week's theme is Americana and American History — because it felt wrong to spend Fourth of July weekend doing anything else.

Here are the five estate sales and auctions we'd travel for this weekend!

  1. The Hay-Hall Estate — Rochelle, Illinois

July 2–5 | Salvaged by Sonya

    https://www.estatesales.net/IL/Rochelle/61068/4873641

This is the road trip pick of the week. Salvaged by Sonya is liquidating the multi-generational Hay-Hall Estate in Rochelle, Illinois, and the item list reads like a museum inventory. Antique furniture, fine porcelain, vintage cameras, and — the find of the week — a Gulbransen Rialto II Model 828 electronic theater organ. A full theater organ. In someone's house. This sale runs right through the Fourth of July and is already drawing serious attention nationally. If you're anywhere in the Midwest, this one is worth the drive.

Privet Estate Sales is one of the best boutique estate sale companies operating in the Northeast, and their current Quogue estate auction is exactly what you'd expect from them. 112 lots of mid-century rattan furniture, original Jules Chéret French advertising posters from the 1890s, a signed Saul Steinberg lithograph, a Henri Matisse print, and hand-carved antiques from around the world. Pickup is in Quogue, NY — but bidding is open to everyone online right now via AuctionNinja. Closes Monday July 6th at 7pm. This is the one you bid on from the backyard between hot dogs.

  1. Beautiful Blends in BridgeMill — Canton, Georgia

July 3–5 | Blue Moon Estate Sales

    https://bluemoonestatesales.com/eastcobb/estate-sale/beautiful-blends-bridgemill-estate-sale/

Blue Moon Estate Sales is running a three-day sale at a BridgeMill home in Canton, Georgia, and the item list is genuinely impressive. A Victorian Eastlake carved bedroom set. An Art Nouveau wardrobe armoire with mirror. Mid-Century Modern walnut pieces by Young Manufacturing and American of Martinsville. Stiffel brass floor lamps. Asian art and decor. And — perfectly timed for this week's theme — a Washburn Americana mandolin. Three full days, right through the holiday weekend. Atlanta area shoppers, this is your pick of the week.

  1. Long Beach Treasures — Long Beach, California

July 3–4 | Treasure Hunt Estate Services

    https://www.estatesale.com/sales/view/874952.html

A California holiday weekend classic. Treasure Hunt Estate Services is running a two-day sale packed with vintage stereo components, Altec speakers, vinyl LPs, neon bar mirrors, a Gerstner tool box, and taxidermy. It's the kind of sale where you walk in for one thing and leave with six. Running July 3rd and 4th — get there early.

  1. High-End 1,700+ Lot Estate Auction — Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

    Ends July 7 | via EstateSale.com

    https://www.estatesale.com/sales/view/874749.html

1,700 lots. That number alone tells you something interesting is in there. This high-end estate auction in Green Tree, PA closes July 7th with pickup on Wednesday and Friday. If you've got time this week, dig through the catalog — sales this size almost always have a few extraordinary finds buried in them.
